INTENSIVE CARE UNIT (ICU)
At NEOM Hospital, the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) has a large team of pulmonologists and nephrologists subspecialized in critical care medicine, respiratory therapists, critical care nurses, clinical dietetics, and physical therapists. They are all committed to your health and well-being. The ICU is a 10-bed closed-unit with daily multidisciplinary rounds and 24-hour intensivist coverage in-house: providing the safest environment for patients needing the most critical care. It also has the latest monitoring and therapeutic apparatus including pulse index continuous cardiac output (PiCCO) for advanced cardiac output monitoring, continuous electroencephalogram (EEG) diagnostics to monitor the brain monitoring in addition to all the necessary critical-care monitoring devices. We have also designed our ICU to care for a diverse patient population: from post-surgical care to subspecialized care such as cardiac, neurological, and routine medical cases.
SERVICES
The Critical Care department is an inpatient treatment unit caring for patients with a broad range of life-threatening illnesses through concentrated nursing care with a ratio of nursing service to patient care of 1:1 or 1:2 to assess everyone’s safety and security, by providing constant monitoring to assure their physiological and psychological well-being. These services can include:
- Severe infections
- Kidney or liver failure
- Respiratory failure
- Treatment and monitoring of patients after complex surgeries, such as heart, lung, and brain operations
Once our patients no longer need concentrated nursing care, we can move them to a regular ward or floor where they can recover in peace and comfort.
